Panfish fly fishing brings back fond memories for most anglers. Panfish, including bluegill, perch, crappie, and lots of other species, are great fly rod targets and flies can be really effective for catching them. Picking off bluegill with a mini-bass popper on a summer evening is what panfish fly fishing is all about. Fishing a sinking line with small baitfish flies to a wad of crappie in a submerged brush pile is super effective but not as familiar to most fly anglers. However you think of panfish and wherever you live, you probably have panfish close by.
